Despite being a relatively young online bookmaker, Betfair has risen to be one of the most popular sites for online punters around the world. This is mainly thanks to its huge sports betting exchange; a huge online marketplace for bettors who wager against each other. Using the Betfair Exchange you can get handicap and Asian handicap betting options at great odds. What’s more, with an easy to use interface and team form statistics, you have every chance to win a few quid with Betfair.

Detailed step by step guide

Step 1

First of all, you will need to register an online account with Betfair. Click the link below and then click the ‘Join Now’ on the following screen.

Step 2

You can now get started navigating your way around the Betfair Exchange. If you look to the sidebar menu on the left of the screen you will find a list of “Popular” sports as well as more sports under “A – Z”. Choose your sport and on the next page choose a league or competition. Once you find the individual match that you wish to bet on, click on it to see all the betting options available.

Betfair Handicap

Step 3

Scroll down the left hand sidebar menu of available betting options for that individual fixture. You will find “Asian Handicap” near the top of this list, and further down you will see the home team and away team followed by a positive or negative number – these are the standard three way handicap options.

Step 4

For handicap bets, select either the home team or away team followed by a positive or negative number. This number is the handicap, which indicates the number of goals that the respective team will start the match with. You will see the three options for home win, draw and away win as normal but you will also notice that there are different odds for each outcome under “Back” and “Lay”. This is the beauty of the Betfair exchange in which punters can set their own odds and choose to bet either for or against the corresponding outcomes.

The same rules apply for Asian handicap bets on the Betfair exchange, however the possibility of a draw is eliminated. Also, if there are two handicaps listed next to a team, this means that half of your stake will be placed on each handicap.

To select your odds, simply click on the box in which they appear.

Step 5

Once you have made your selections, you will notice that they appear in the bet slip on the right hand side of the page. Here you can toggle the odds to make them higher or lower, if you so desire. Or you can simply enter a stake into the box to see the potential returns. Note that the minimum stake on the Betfair Exchange is £2.
